Bastian House is a new independent press founded for one reason: to publish fiction without gatekeeping.
We believe in complex characters. In stories that don't apologize. In writing that bruises before it heals. We aren't here to round off the edges or rewrite the ending into something easier.

Not your typical heist story…
Part laugh-out-loud comedy, part heist thriller, part love letter to found family, Merry Band of Misfits is the story of five people society has overlooked—who are about to become the most unlikely crew to ever rob a bank.
Meet Vinnie. He has Down syndrome, a gift for cooking, and a twin brother who worries too much. He sees what others miss, says what others won't, and knows that "typical" people underestimate him. Which is exactly why he's planning a heist.
Vinnie lives with his Family—not by blood, but by choice. There's Nicholas, his overprotective neurotypical twin. Garth, a deaf powerlifter with a heart as big as his deadlift. Floyd, a lightning-strike survivor and wheelchair user who lost his past but builds their future. And William, an autistic man who masks as Mr. Darcy when the world stops making sense. Together, they've built a life in a house held together by love, duct tape, and a benefactor who believed in them when no one else did.
When their benefactor dies and her daughter moves to take their house, the Family has one play left: pull off the most unlikely heist ever attempted, by the last people on earth anyone would suspect.
We're a new press, and we're reading. If you've written fiction that's been called too dark, too difficult, or too much, we'd like to see it.
